Beauty! A timeless design in my opinion. There is just 1 BMW 1802 in the UK, and the only other one disappeared in 1999, according to HML. This one looked remarkably original too, and certainly no preservation candidate. Quite possibly giffer owned. Looks nifty in the two door sedan body. First I've seen, although I've seen a couple of the more common 2002s. I'm pretty sure this is an 1802, although not 100% certain. Whatever it is is an early 1970s BMW New Series. I really like the design of the lights on these. It's amazing how, from the front, this could be a mid 90s Beemer, but it is in fact at least 40 years old! Not many cars back home which are still used as daily runners but this lovely example is. I love the colour too, although it may not be to everyone's tastes. A really nice car, and I'd love one myself, but I'm sure the owner of the only one in Britain is rather keen to hang on to it. This light design on the 1802 was only around from 1971-1973, so it dates sometime between them, if I'm right. I've spotted this one on another street yesterday too, but it was dark and I couldn't get a decent picture. I was slightly cautious taking this one, as it was parked outside a police station next to police cars, and I don't know if the policemen would take kindly to someone photographing their cars. |
