Description

Like the L34, the A9X was built so the Torana could be Homologated for racing, things that let the L34 down, were fixed on the A9X, the weak Banjo diff was replaced with the Salisbury, it also got rear disc brakes and Radial Tuned Suspension, The A9X also now had a front spoiler and rear facing induction scoop. A9X Engine; 5000 V8, 280bhp Between August and December 1977, 305 A9X Sedans were made and 100 Hatchbacks, also 52 race shells were supplied to race teams (11 sedans and 41 Hatchbacks) This car is Allan Grices A9X SS Hatchback he raced at Bathurst in 1978 with John Leffler, Qualifying the car in 7th position, finished the race in 2nd position Peter Brock and Jim Richards won the race in a similar car 3rd was Murray Carter and Graeme Lawrence in a XC Falcon Hardtop
