中文（臺灣）：這批相片為台灣新生報記者於1979年1月2日拍攝，主題為自強號列車恢復行駛。自1978年8月以來因為避震系統、空調設備屢屢故障的自強號電聯車，經過半年整修後，終於正式復駛。

1970年代臺灣省鐵路管理局進行西部幹線電氣化工程。為配合將來電氣化通車，臺鐵引進新型電力車種，1974年由英國公司設計新款電聯車，也就是日後的EMU100型，列車自1978年1月起經海運抵達臺灣。1978年時部分路段已完成電氣化，8月15日以「自強號」為名，正式營運於臺北臺中路段。但設計不良導致的問題一一浮現，臺鐵決定全面停駛進行檢修，當時飽受輿論抨擊。1979年1月2日自強號正式復駛，之後便沒有再出太大問題。

EMU100型是臺灣第一款電聯車，也是第一代自強號列車。列車時速可達120公里，是當時臺鐵速度最快的車種。1979年7月1日西部幹線電氣化全面完成後，該款列車行駛臺北高雄只要4個半小時。日後臺鐵引進更多款列車，EMU100型列車日漸老舊，最終於2011年停駛。
