Description
English: Mixed traffic locos operating on the 1500V dc lines and were painted in a distinctive brown livery not found on any other SNCF locos. This photo was taken at Point-de-Grave on 26 July 1990. This electrified branch from Bordeaux was covered one way by EMU which included a reversal at Bordeaux St Louis station. Running as far as Le Verdon, I then planned to walk (or find a taxi) for the remaining 3 kms. It was here I asked the drivers of the light loco BB9439 seen in this photo which was stabled there. As luck would have it i was invited up to the cab of the loco and given a lift to Point-de-Grave. The loco then coupled up to the stock to form two through coaches (one seated, one couchette) through to Bordeaux-St-Jean. From Bordeaux the coaches attached onto more stock to form a through train to Paris Austerlitz. Train 4668, 20:23 Pointe-de-Grave to Paris Austerlitz.
