Description
English: SONG BE RIVER, SOUTH VIETNAM, 1966-03-18. AMERICAN SOLDIERS FERRY AUSTRALIAN TROOPS OF THE 1ST BATTALION, THE ROYAL AUSTRALIAN REGIMENT (1RAR) IN A RUBBER BOAT ACROSS THE SONG BE RIVER IN WAR ZONE D DURING OPERATION SILVER CITY. THE AUSTRALIANS WERE CROSSING THE RIVER AT THE BEGINNING OF A THREE-DAY PATROL INTO VIET CONG TERRITORY. EQUIPMENT FOR THE CROSSING WAS SUPPLIED BY OTHER UNITS IN THE 173RD AIRBORNE BRIGADE.
