Description
English: Fragment of copper alloy Romano British, ‘Colchester’ two piece type brooch. The semicylindrical wings of this brooch are broken and truncated. Behind the head is an intact lug with two circular perforations. There is no crest on running from the head, but an incised line runs the length of the surviving bow, which is semicircular in section. The pin and spring head are entirely missing. The object is mid green in patina with patches of lighter yellowy green to the front. It is 25.14mm long, 11.76mm across the surviving wings, 5.12mm wide across the bow, 2.14mm thick and weighs 2.21g. A crested example can be seen in Crummy 1983, figure 6, number 52.
