English: 2006 East Lancs OmniDekka body on a Scania N94UD chassis and with a 9.0 litre Scania DC9 inline 6 diesel engine of Blue Star (part of GoAhead) (Reg.YN56FFO, Fleet No.1006) and is pictured at Romsey Bus Station, Hampshire, 6 September 2023..
The East Lancs OmniDekka was a modified version of the East Lancs Myllenium. The OmniDekka was introduced by East Lancashire Coachbuilders, Blackburn in 2003; the company collapsed in 2007 but was bought by the Darwen Group which renamed this bus the Darwen OmniDekka. In 2008 Darwen acquired Optare in a reverse takeover (a peculiar financial operation) and renamed themselves Optare - and this bus the Optare OmniDekka. Optare stopped production of the OmniDekka in 2011 and closed the Blackburn works soon afterwards in 2012. |
