English: by most accounts fengjia night market in taichung is the second biggest night market in all of taiwan. and its a beast to navigate. fortunately, we were there with an old friend of my father in law who lives in taichung.

the guy knew all the great deals. most things ended up costing the equivalent of about $1.25 US: takoyaki, firm and fried stinky tofu, stuffed cuttlefish, whole shelled bbq shrimp, various fruit and meat on a stick.

the craziest deal of all: tall ice cream cones for the equivalent of a 47 cents, US. an awesome deal and great snack especially with evening temperatures still in the 80s (farenheit).

we snaked through narrow corridors, sharing the road with groups of students from the nearby university, swarms of scooters and the occassional car. every now and then it would look like we were approaching a dead end only to turn a corner and find completely new, unexplored areas.

by the end of the night my feet were getting sore from the distance covered. and the 4 of us had managed to get stuffed on less than $20 US.

photo notes: in the past i've done night markets with the 50mm f1.8. which is great to deal with the low light. but space is tight and i often found myself without enough room to properly frame some shots. went at it with a zoom this time which gets a constant f2.8. having a wider angle was nice but there were times i really wanted the extra stop. hoping to try again sometime with a 35mm prime.
