editDescription2010 04 28 wptf transmitter 47.jpg |
English: As I recall, the fat part of the spire atop the WPTF daytime tower is a pylon antenna for channel 5 TV, which WPTF's owners expected to get when the FCC awarded it, but went instead to a crosstown rival. The antenna then radiated WPTF-FM, rebranded WQDR in 1974. Later WQDR moved to higher towers. The antenna on the upper part of the spire is a one-bay ERI radiating WKIX/102.9fm with 1700 watts. |
