Description Tamalia coweni. First attempt at focus stack. My intention was to look at the gall in the lower left center. Magnification revealed the aphids between the two galls at upper right center. For reference the uppermost gall measures 12 mm in length. The photo has been enhanced by darkening the image to bring out the black dots. The black dots are not photography artifacts but appear to be connected with the aphid. The host plant is Arctostaphylos parryana. It is at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
