Description

육군 5포병여단 철풍대대가 군사 대비태세 일환으로 27일 강원도 철원 담터사격장에서 미 MLRS대대와 한미연합 MLRS 실사격 훈련을 하고 있다. MLRS는 장전된 로켓을 개별적으로 혹은 단 두번에 12발을 발사할 수도 있다. 사격관제 컴퓨터는 발사 중에도 재조준할 수 있어 모든 사격 모드에서 정확도가 유지된다. MLRS 한 발에는 주먹만한 자탄 500여개가 들어 있어 타격 목표를 중심으로 가로 세로 180m 축구장 3배 크기의 면적에 비 내리듯 쏟아 부으며 적들을 초토화 할 수 있다. 걸프전 당시 미군이 운용해 하늘에서 철비가 내린다는 Steel Rain이란 별명을 얻기도 했다.
