English: U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Deputy Administrator Beverly Simmons and International Regional Organization for Plant and Animal Health (OIRSA) Executive Director M.Sc. Efrain Medina Guerra shake hands after signing a Cooperative Agreement with the OIRSA in Washington, DC on Aug. 26, 2015. This agreement includes partnerships between Mexico, Dominican Republic, and several Central American countries and will implement an enhanced and epidemiologically sustainable level of vesicular disease and screwworm surveillance, preventing the potential spread of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and other diseases to the U.S. Surveillance activities include field investigations and diagnostics, from sample collection to submission within Central America.
