Summary

Description

Singleleaf pinyon (Pinus monophylla), Pine family (Pinaceae). NW of Springdale, near the Zion Nat. Park, Utah.

Usually has a single needle per fascicle. Occasionally, I can find two needles in a fascicle, which confirms the theory that P. monophylla originated from P. edulis as a variety with abortive development of the two-needle fascicles.
