Description
עברית: פסגה ברכס הכרמל, והיא מתנשאת לגובה של 474 מטר מעל פני הים. הפסגה שוכנת בצידו הדרום-מזרחי של רכס הכרמל, כ-2.5 ק"מ צפונית-מערבית ליקנעם עילית, וכארבעה קילומטרים דרומית-מזרחית למרכז היישוב דאלית אל-כרמל. על פי המסורת, במקום זה התחולל העימות בין אליהו לבין נביאי הבעל, כשאש ירדה מן השמים ורק קורבנו של אליהו נענה. מסיבה זו הוקם במקום בשנת 1867 מנזר על ידי נזירים כרמליתים שהגיעו מאירופה, ואשר ראו באליהו מודל לנזירות, לקנאות דתית ולמסירות טוטלית לאל, תכונות שבאו לידי ביטוי בין היתר במלחמתו בנביאי הבעל.
