Tolypocladium longisegmentum (Ginns) Quandt, Kepler & Spatafora Image location: Marquette township, Michigan, USA Habitat: Growing from Elaphomyces granulatus, Mixed hardwood forest composed of Betula papyrifera, Acer rubrum, Quercus rubra, and few other hardwood and softwood species, growing through organic soil and duff layer. Growth Habit: Sparsely clumped. Two on a single Elaphomyces granulatus and one on a degraded Elaphomyces granulatus within 5ft Age of Specimen: Mature Ascocarp: Measurements were not taken, but estimates are 10-15mm in width and 10-20mm in height. Dark brown in color with a goose-bump like texture. The ascus-containing structure is estimated at 01-03mm in thickness. Flesh is white and soft. Stalk: Measurements were not taken, but estimates are 50-80mm in length and 08-15mm in width. Surface is golden yellow turning to yellow-orange around the base. Texture is dry and soft. Flesh is soft and white. Base is attached to Elaphomyces granulatus. Notes: Collected by Joe Lane. Collected in the area of Little Presque Isle Marquette, MI during a university foray.
