Summary edit

Description
English: Museumkelder Derlon in the basement of Hotel Derlon in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The museum features the 1983 archaeological excavations of an ancient Roman shrine from the 2nd century AD. The shrine stood along the main road from Tongres via Maastricht to Cologne, close to the bridge over the river Meuse. It consisted of an enclosed courtyard with a Jupiter column and a number of smaller monuments. The carved stone featured here was probably part of an arch from the first half of the 2nd century.. Although exhibited here, it was not excavated here but dredged up from the river Meuse in 1963.
