Description

A rhea in a pen at the modest municipal zoo which displays animals from South America.

Santa Cruz de la Sierra (elev. 416m/1,365ft) became the most populous city in Bolivia at the start of the 21st century, overtaking La Paz. (La Paz remains the most populous metropolitan area, however.) Santa Cruz is the most economically prosperous city in the country.
