Summary edit

Description
English: Detail of the former Latin school at Achter de Comedie in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The school was built on the site of the Jesuit monastery. In 1773 the Society of Jesus was suppressed by the pope and their monastery and schools were sold. Their church became the town's main theatre until 1992. Opposite the church, a section of the monastery from the late 16th-century survives. The school was probably built by the town in 1787, after the Jesuits had left, to fill in the educational gap. It is now an office building (consulate of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, and other occupants).
