English: Harmandir, also spelled Harimandir or Harmandar, and called Darbar Sahib or Golden Temple of Amritsar is the most sacred site in Sikhism.
Prakash is the morning ritual done near dawn, where the scripture is taken out of its bedroom, carried in decorated palanquin with people chanting together with clasped hands and some bowing, throwing flower petals. The palki is elaborately decorated with bed and pillows, covered with flower garlands. The scripture is treated like a living person, a Guru. After it arrives in the sanctum from Akal Takht bedroom, pujaris sing hymns and kirtans. After some half an hour of rituals, a random page is opened for the day's Mukhwak, also called Hukamnama. |
