Deutsch: Diese aus dem fossilen Rohstoff Erdöl hergestellte Klarsicht-Abdeckfolie sollte in einem Gartenhaus in Hannover-Bothfeld einen hölzernen Stuhl vor Regenwasser schützen. Auf den ersten Blick gut gedacht; doch die Folie zerfällt im Laufe der Zeit in immer kleinere Teile bis in den Nanobereich und kann dann zunächst unverdaubar in die Mägen von Lebewesen gelangen, was oftmals zu einem qualvollen Hungertod durch Verstopfung führt. Schließlich kann das immer kleinere Mikroplastik auch in das Erbgut von lebenden Organismen gelangen; die Folgen für die Ökosysteme bis hin zu uns Menschen an der Spitze der Nahrungskette waren zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme dieses Fotos noch unabsehbar. |
