Deutsch: Die Kreuzkirche am Altmarkt in Dresden ist die evangelische Hauptkirche der Stadt. Neben dem Dom in Meißen ist sie gleichzeitig die Predigtkirche des Landesbischofs der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Landeskirche Sachsens. Mit mehr als 3000 Sitzplätzen ist die Kreuzkirche der größte und mit 92 Metern auch der höchste Kirchenbau in Sachsen. Als Wirkungsstätte des Dresdner Kreuzchores und der Kreuzorganisten ist sie zugleich das kirchenmusikalische Zentrum der Stadt. Nach einem Brand von 1897 erfolgte der Wiederaufbau der Kirche bis 1900. Die Turmanlage von 1784 bis 1788 stammt von dem Hofbaumeister und Akademieprofessor G.A. Hölzer und ist 94 Meter hoch. Sie wurde nach dem Vorbild des Turms der Hofkirche erbaut. Bei der Besteigung müssen 256 Stufen bis zum Erreichen der Plattform in 54 Meter Höhe bewältigt werden. |
