Description
Nederlands: Schatkamer van de Onze-Lieve-Vrouwebasiliek in Tongeren, onderdeel van het museum Teseum (waarvan ook een geconserveerde archeologische site deel uit maakt). Hier een 14e-eeuws reliekenkruis van Sint-Gereon. Het kruis rust op een zespuntige voet, versierd met 6 bergkristallen. De stam is onderbroken door een knoop in drijfwerk, versierd met zes knoppen die de naam Jezus vormen. De kristallen cilinder boven de knoop en de ronde medaillons in niëllo aan de uiteinden van de kruisarmen bevatten de relieken, onder andere van de heilige Gereon (+287), officier in het Thebaanse Legioen, naar wie het kruis is genoemd. Het kruis is centraal versierd met stenen uit het Heilig Land. Hoogte: 51 cm. Inventarisnr. SK-269_LI-002.
