Description

Regional rail services in the largely German speaking Südtirol region of northern Italy are gradually being taken over by local operator Società Automobilistica Dolomiti (SAD). This will include all heavy rail, the narrow gauge Rittner Bahn, cable car as well as an extensive bus rural aand urban network.

New Swiss built Stadler FLIRT EMUs are being delivered to the region and are classified as ETR170. Seen here is ETR170.143 on a former Trenitalia service at the end of its journey at Meran/Merano on 22 February 2015. Train is R20727, 14:38 Brenner/Brennero to Meran/Merano.

Officially all place names in the Südtirol (Italian = Alto Adige) semi-autonomous region are listed on timetables etc. in both languages.
