Description
English: The Benjamin Patterson House, located at 2817 N Street, N.W., in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., United States.

Built in 1795, the wooden, two-and-a-half-story, Federal-style home originally served as the private residence of Benjamin Patterson (1762–1834). The semi-detached property features a garage and guest house adjacent to the home. The Benjamin Patterson House is designated as a contributing property to the Georgetown Historic District, a National Historic Landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1967.

Previous occupants of 2817 N Street, N.W., include: William Wayne Wirgman, a direct descendant of Commanding General of the U.S. Army, "Mad Anthony" Wayne; Lieutenant Colonel Herbert Aaron Friedlich (1893–1989) of the Judge Advocate General's Corps, recipient of the Legion of Merit, recipient of the Carnegie Medal, Special Assistant to Under Secretary of War Robert P. Patterson during World War II, editor of the Harvard Law Review, and a senior partner at what is now the law firm of Mayer Brown; Priscilla Mason, one of the founding administrators of The Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
