| Description | This is one of several rowhouses from Covington, Kentucky's Riverside Drive Historic District. Built up in the early to mid-19th Century, today the neighborhood is one of the few remaining historic riverside neighborhoods left in the Cincinnati area, which was hit hard by several floods in the 20th Century. These floods required the construction of floodwalls that destroyed much of the historic urban fabric along the riverfront, along with lowering the desirability of the riverside neighborhoods due to floods, which caused them to hollow out and become blighted. Despite also suffering similar damage and redevelopment proposals, the Riverside Drive Historic District is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the Cincinnati area today, and is full of beautifully restored buildings and houses. |
