Description330-PS-130 (USN 707624) (20705069835).jpg | 330-PS-130 (USN 707624): New Dress Uniforms for Navy Enlisted Men Shown at the Pentagon. The passing of the traditional thirteen-buttoned, pocket less, tight cuff dress uniform of the Navy for a more streamlined model brings a smile to the face of Admiral Forrest P. Sherman, Chief of Naval Operations. During a special showing at the Pentagon, Representatives of the Press viewed the new dress blues which will be authorized for wear after July 1, 1952. Admiral Sherman examines the seaman’s stripes which were worn on the cuff of the old uniform and which be eliminated on the cuff of the new uniform as shown on the right. The new uniform will carry hip and side pockets and a conventional zippered fly front. The traditional bell-bottom feature will be retained. The new jumper will carry coat-styled sleeves, eliminating the tight-buttoned cuff of the present jumper. Shown, left to right,: Admiral Sherman; Yeoman First Class Joseph J. Vettese (wearing old uniform); and Storekeeper Second Class Charles Tillman, (wearing new uniform). Photograph released March 10, 1950. (8/18/2015). |
