Description
editDescription/Blazon
- Shield: Azure, a fess Argent between a fleur-de-lis and an annulet Or.
- Motto: FORTIORUM FORTIA FACTA (The Brave Dees of Brave Men).
Symbolism
- Shield: The shield is blue for the Infantry. The functions of the organization are illustrated by the silver (white) horizontal band which is the heraldic representation of a military shield or girdle of honor and signifies that the bearer must always be in readiness to undergo the business of public weal. The battle honors earned in France in World War I are indicated by the gold fleur-de-lis. The numerical designation is represented by the three divisions of the shield, the heraldic annulet, symbol of cadency of the sixth son and the annulet for the fifth son, thus forming the number 365.
Background
The coat of arms was approved on 24 December 1942.
