Description
Deutsch: Aus dem senkrecht auf die Marsoberfläche gerichteten Nadirkanal des vom DLR betriebenen Kamerasystems HRSC auf der ESA-Sonde Mars Express und einem der vier Stereokanäle lassen sich sogenannte Anaglyphenbilder erzeugen. Sie ermöglichen bei der Verwendung einer Rot-Blau/Cyan- oder Rot-Grün-Brille einen realistischen dreidimensionalen Blick auf die Landschaft.

Besonders spektakulär sind bei der Betrachtung mit einer 3D-Brille die mit ihren steilen Flanken über 2500 Meter aus der Umgebung herausragenden Tafelberge anzusehen. Auch lassen sich die nahezu geradlinig verlaufenden tektonischen Brüche im Südteil der Region (linke Bildhälfte; Norden ist rechts im Bild, um den stereoskopischen Effekt möglich zu machen) gut nachvollziehen. Im linken Bilddrittel ist ein alter Krater durch einen Grabenbruch genau in der Mitte "durchschnitten" worden. An den Ausbuchtungen entlang der steilen Geländekanten sind vereinzelte Hangrutschungen zu sehen, die sich viele Kilometer weit in die Ebene erstrecken. Die hohe Auflösung von etwa 15 Metern pro Bildpunkt lässt in der Tiefebene auch gut die sogenannte Yardangs erkennen - das sind entlang der vorherrschenden Windrichtung wie von einem Sandstrahlgebläse geformten Windhöcker und -gassen.
