Description
English: The regimental color of the Third Arkansas Infantry Regiment, Provisional Army of the Confederate States in the Old State House Museum Collections, Little Rock, Arkansas. Note: Reputedly this flag was made by the ladies of Fredericksburg and presented to the 3d Arkansas Infantry Regiment in gratitude for the kindness shown to citizens of that town. The case for its manufacture outside the structures of the Army has merit, as it differs slightly from the standard issue of battle flag in bunting. Its size is slightly smaller than the standard 48” square, and the unit citation in the center obscures the position of the thirteenth star that is present on the second and third bunting issues. The flag was carried until surrender in 1865. Army of Northern Virginia Battle Flag pattern variation Bunting and cotton with canvas lead, 47” X 46”
