Summary edit

Description
English: Built in the 19th and 20th Centuries, these buildings demonstrate the architectural variety found within Downtown Newark, with examples of the Italianate, Classical Revival, Modern, Romanesque Revival, and Sullivanesque or Chicago School styles all represented on 3rd Street. The buildings vary in style, size, and exterior cladding, though brick is the most common cladding material, and other features like double-hung windows, decorative trim, bracketed cornices, parapets, and first floor retail shopfronts also being common. The buildings, except the modernist ones, are contributing structures in the Newark Downtown Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
