Description 428-GX-USN-1174307: Persian Gulf. A Chief Petty Officer of the crew of the command ship USS La Salle (AGF-3) assists a young boy, one of the 267 evacuees from Iran who are being processed on La Salle. The people departed Bandar Abbas in Iran onboard British research ships which transported them to the La Salle in international waters during the Iranian Hostage Crisis. After the processing, La Salle will take the evacuees to Manama, Bahrain, where they will go through customs. About 130 of them are U.S. Citizens. Photographed by JO1 Tim Lewis/PH2 J. F.
