Description
English: Pictured, is Flag Captain of HMS Albion using his Binoculars on the bridge as she sails back home. The assault ship sailed back home to Devonport having led Littoral Response Group (Experimentation) (LRG(X)) on a series of exercises which will help shape the Royal Navy and Royal Marines of tomorrow.Working together with HMS Dragon and RFA Lyme Bay, the task group has focused on developing the tactics and technology which will drive the Future Navy and Royal Marine’s Future Commando Force. They tested new equipment, such as drones, which could be used for resupplying equipment to commandos on the ground, miniature aerial helicopters for surveillance and underwater autonomous sonars to help map beaches for landings.

The hand held binoculars are Royal Navy issued Zeiss 7×50 B/GA T* Marine Porro prism type binoculars.[1] Mariners also often deem an adequate low light performance of the optical combination important, explaining the many 7×50 hand held marine binoculars offerings featuring a large 7.14 mm exit pupil, which corresponds to the average pupil size of a youthful dark-adapted human eye in circumstances with no extraneous light. The attached braided fancy neck strap follows a tradition in the British navy that many of the crewmen braid their own straps for these binoculars.
