23 July 2013 - Washington, DC - Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez spends his first day on the job participating in staff meetings and touring the building. Here he takes in a lobby display on the history of Labor Day. The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated in 1882, well before the department’s creation in 1913.
