Description

Already, trolleybuses from Esslingen, Germany have been sold to Ruse (nov 2008). Swiss second hand vehicles from Basel had arrived in 1995. Trolleybuses were introduced in Bulgaria initially in Sofia (1941) and later in 1955 in Plovdiv.. 30 years later, a third system commenced in Pleven followed by a flurry of new activity throughout the country. The Soviet ZIU9 is the most widespread trolleybus in the world and production commenced in 1972. Over 40,000 were made in Engels, USSR at the ZIU factory. Ruse bought 57 of them. 54529 was still operating in 2008.... www.phototrans.eu/14,271890,0.html albeit in a completely different livery. Ruse fleet here A total of 61 Ziu vehicles entered service in Ruse.

This is really trolleybus no 52 in the RUSE fleet.
