| Description |
English: Not something you see every day. Taken from a British Airways Concorde G-BOAB in 1984 whilst cruising at 55,000 feet (more than 10 miles UP). The very small window limited the field of view but part of Italy can just be seen as the sun set. We were travelling at Mach 2.02 and the small window was hot to the touch due to the speed.
I know the quality isn't great but I think it's still a picture to cherish. Today only military pilots get this sort of view, and no champagne !! As far as I can see my photos are the only ones on Flickr that were taken inside in flight. Taken with my Nikkormat FTn camera & 50mm f2.0 lens. Film would probably have been Kodachrome. I have more pictures of this flight in my "Concorde" album. |
