KODAK CAMERA ONCE BELONGING TO ROBERT R. WILLIAMSON. WILLIAMSON WAS A PARK RANGER AT THE SOUTH RIM OF THE GRAND CANYON FROM 1928 UNTIL 1937, WHEN HE DIED OF PNEUMONIA AT GRCA, AND WAS BURIED IN THE GRAND CANYON CEMETERY. HUNDREDS OF HIS PHOTOS WERE DONATED TO GRCA, IN 2006-2007, BY THE FAMILY, AND MANY OF THOSE PHOTOS WERE PRESUMABLY TAKEN WITH THIS CAMERA. . . THE CAMERA IS ON DISPLAY AT THE GRAND CANYON VISITOR CENTER.. . THE CAMERA IS MADE BY THE EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY AND IS LABELLED 'NO.1A POCKET KODAK'. THE CAMERA LOOKS LIKE A SIMPLE RECTANGULAR BOX WITH ROUNDED ENDS UNTIL THE FRONT IS OPENED TO REVEAL THE LENS STORED INSIDE THE CAMERA BODY. THE LENS IS ATTACHED TO THE BODY VIA AN ACCORDIAN BELLOWS. A SLIDE MECHANISM NEXT TO THE LENS DOOR ALLOWS THE FRONT OF THE CAMERA TO SWING OPEN FOR FILM INSERTION. A TURNING MECHANISM ON THE TOP OF THE BODY ALLOWS THE USER TO ADVANCE THE FILM. THERE IS A SMALL LEATHER STRAP ON THE SIDE OF THE CAMERA BODY. THE FRONT OF THE CAMERA HAS A 'KODAK' LABEL AND THE BACK IS STAMPED WITH 'USE FILM/ NO. A116'. . . THE CAMERA WAS USED IN THE KOLB STUDIO CCC EXHIBIT, MAY- OCTOBER 2008.. .
