This building was on the southwest corner of 6th and Pike. On the right hand side is a neon sign clock at 523 Pike Street that said "Cash for gold, silver". It belonged to the Precious Metal Smelting Company, which moved in here in August 1936. (I believe the assessor photos are from January 1937, but possibly they were taken throughout 1935). Precious Metal Smelting was previously at 4th and Pine from at least 1934. Also pictured here are the Shamrock Beer Parlor at 1427 6th, Home of the Green Apple Pie at 521 Pike (their sign is on the 6th Ave side, so they must have had an L shaped unit?), dentist Dr. Skaggs, and a barber shop on 6th. This photo is on the King County property card for parcel 197570-0060 at the Washington State Puget Sound Regional Archives. |
