Description 80-G-27200: Guadalcanal Campaign, August 1942 to February 1943. A A Sign says “42nd Street”, but it is a long way from New York City’s Times Square. The sign was posted at a U.S. Marine Camp on Guadalcanal, November 30, 1942. Official U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (2016/12/06).
