Description 80-G-300944: Bride of a Fita-Fita (a native Samoan, and member of the Fita Fita Guard and Band of the U.S. Navy) participates with friends of the groom in a siva (native dance) which traditionally follows the wedding ceremony and wedding feast. A Samoan wedding, including church ceremony and kava ceremony, feast, and entertainment, frequently lasts as long as twelve hours, occasionally may be continued the following day. The interior of a Samoan fale (native house) is shown, decorated with coconut palm branches for the occasion, American Samoan, Samoan Islands. Photograph released August 7, 1944.
