Description

80-G-356630: USS DD-224 (ex-USS Stewart, DD-224).

Crew members and a Navy band on the ship's foredeck during recommissioning ceremonies, while she was moored in Hiro Wan, Japan on 29 October 1945.  The ship had served during World War II as the Japanese Navy's Patrol Boat 102 and was recovered by the U.S. Navy after the war's end.  USS Compton (DD-705) is alongside, at right. Other U.S. Navy ships are in the distance.
