Description
English: Looking NW from upstream side of K&I Bridge near Kentucky bank.

This steel grating roadway is cantilevered out from the side of the bridge. At right is one of the turnouts provided for slow or disabled vehicles. Original K&I Bridge, opened in 1886, was replaced by this bridge, completed in 1912. Bridge was closed to vehicular traffic in 1979 after an overloaded dump truck damaged the upstream roadway, but is still used by rail traffic. As of 2012, it is owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway.
