English: Sidewheel ferry "Boone No. 7" (doc. # 236465) tied off at Anderson Ferry.
Note the two sets of navigation lights and two wheels in the pilothouse, since either end of the boat could be the bow, depending on which way it's going. In distance, "Boone No. 8" and "Little Boone" are approaching from Cincinnati. Ohio River mile 478. Constance, Kentucky. Nov. 1987. File # 87k033. . This sidewheel ferryboat was built in 1937 by Stanwood Corp. at Covington, Ky.. Originally steam, it was converted to a 178 hp. Cummins diesel in 1947. It was owned by Richard Kottmyer, Constance, Ky., until 1986, when it was sold to Paul W. Anderson, Verona, Ky. Anderson Ferry was also known as Kottmyer's Ferry and has apparently been owned by either the Anderson or Kottmyer families for almost two centuries, ever since George Anderson bought the ferry from Raleigh Colston in 1817. . 35 mm Kodachrome.
