Description
English: Looking NE from Glover Cary Bridge (opened to traffic in 1940).

Towboat "Bessie Walker" (doc. # 260980) downbound. Owensboro Municipal Utilities power plant in right distance. . Twin screw towboat "Bessie Walker" ( doc. # 260980, length 150 feet, breadth 35 feet, Fairbanks-Morse model 38 opposed-piston diesels, 3200 hp.) The boat was built in 1950 by St. Louis Ship. Originally named "Claude Tully", it was owned by Patton-Tully Transportation Co., Memphis. After two other owners and names, in 1966 the boat was sold to Walker Towing Corp., Paducah, and renamed "Bessie Walker". After another owner, in 1994 the boat was sold to International Barge, Paducah. In 1995, the boat was renamed "Michelle Pater" and later that year renamed "Michael W". The boat was dismantled in 2005.
