Description
English: Looking ENE from approach to Clark Bridge.

Pouring last section (SW corner) of top floor of Witherspoon Street parking garage. This is an example of a post-tensioned slab. At lower left, Schwing 1200/32 concrete pump is fed by two concrete trucks; when one is empty, the other can begin unloading right away so the flow of concrete is not interrupted. Left of center, man in plaid shirt controls position of placing boom and rate of concrete flow via remote box connected by cable to concrete pump. Workers use 2x4s, shovels and "bull floats" to smooth surface of fresh concrete. A power trowel is used to create a smooth finish. (See "Placing and Finishing Concrete".) I-64 and JFK Bridge in distance. . Schwing 1200/32 ["32" refers to 32-meter vertical reach of placing boom] is discontinued; current version is S 32 S . Louisville, Kentucky.
