English: 90733 at Keighley station Built in 1945 at Newton-le-Willows this War Department Austerity locomotive now operates on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. It started operational life in the Netherlands before being sold to Sweden where it was found, brought home and subsequently restored by British enthusiasts. British Railways bought 733 of these 2-8-0 locomotives but none has survived. This remaining example is the only one in the world and its number reflects the 734th of its class to operate in this country. |
