Description
English: A Douglas A-4C Skyhawk of attack squadron VA-15 "Valions", Attack Carrier Air Wing 10 (CVW-10), coming in to land on the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11) in 1967. The Intrepid was deployed three times to Vietnam as an auxiliary attack carrier between 1966 and 1969. The Vought F-8C Crusader in the foreground was from fighter squadron VF-111 Det. 11 "Omar's Orphans". Its pilot, Lt. Tom Nargi, would shoot a North Vietnamese MiG-17 down on 19 September 1969.
