Description
English: A367 approaching Clandown This section of the A367 follows the course of the Fosse Way. The Romans were fanatics for building their roads straight, very commendable but sometimes they made things difficult for themselves. At Clandown the roman road plunges into a valley, up the other side, across a very short plateau then back into the same valley and up the other side again, four very steep hills for the price of two. Post medieval road builders were more sensible, at least on this occasion, and followed the valley on an easier gradient.
