English: A40 / A449 road junction near Raglan The A40 runs from Monmouth (off to the bottom right) to Abergavenny (off to the top of the picture).
The A449 heads off to the lower left of the picture to Newport. The arrangement of this modern junction is such that one needs to leave the main road when travelling from Monmouth to Abergavenny even though the road name (A40) stays the same. The main road changes from being the A40 to the A449. Caught me out once - requiring a long detour along minor roads to get back on track! Taken from an eroplane somewhere above Llangovan |
