Vice-admiraal De Weert wordt opgewacht door de koning van Matecalo [Baticaloa]. Als deze hoort dat hij, in weerwil van een contract dat hij met deze koning had, Portugese gevangenen vrij heeft gelaten en dan ook de koning nog beledigt, moet hij dat met zijn leven bekopen.

Deze afbeelding is door Montanus opgenomen bij de reis van Warwijck en de Weert uit 1602.

De afbeelding is een spiegelbeeld van Koninklijke Bibliotheek, inv.nr. 511 K 23 p. 282.

The king of Matecalo (Baticaloa) waits to receive vice admiral De Weert. When the king hears that De Weert has released Portuguese prisoners in violation of the contract they had agreed and De Weert then goes on to insult him, De Weert is made to pay with his life.

This illustration was included by Montanus in the voyage of Warwijck and De Weert in 1602.

The illustration is a mirror image of Koninklijke Bibliothee, inv.nr. 511 K 23 p. 282.
