1. 't Eyland Samina. / Als gy daar io 10. vadem ten Anker lecht. / 2. Het Eylandt Medemo. / Dese Reede hebben wy genaamt Cornelis Witsens Reeden.

De Kust van Nova Guinea omtrent Moa.

1. het Eylandt Moa. / 2. Het Eylandt Insou. / Deze Reede hebben wy genaamt Johan Maatzuykers Reede.

Het volk van Moa, Iamna ende andere omleggende Eylanden in haar Fatzoen, Kleeding en vaartuyg. 

In de linkerbovenhoeken staan de kaartnummers.

Deze afbeeldingen zijn afkomstig uit het werk 'Oud en Nieuw Oost-Indiën' van François Valentyn.

Abel Tasman, maar ook Willem Schouten en Isaac le Maire, dachten dat Nieuw Guinea een stuk groter was dan in werkelijkheid het geval is. Volgens Tasmans eigen kaarten voer hij lange tijd min of meer langs de kust van Nieuw Guinea, maar dat klopte niet. Op deze afbeeldingen nadert hij het eiland al wel.

Op het linkereiland op afbeelding 27 XX zijn twee gebouwtjes te zien, waar inheemse vaartuigen naast liggen.

These plates are taken from the work ' Oud en Nieuw Oost Indien' by Francois Valentyn.

Abel Tasman, but also Willem Schouten and Isaac le Maire, thought that New Guinea was a good deal bigger than it actually is. According to Tasman's own maps he sailed along the coast of Guinea for a long time. In these illustrations he is however shown approaching the island.

On the island on the left shown in illustration 27 XX there are two small buildings, flanked by indigenous vessels.
